The skins are tanned using only vegetable extracts and chemicals approved by TUV. The production is strictly controlled and the disposal of all effluent is monitored by the Swedish authorities.
If possible all the by-products are re used, some of which are sold to Spain for use in Chorizo Sausage.
A major problem with normal Chrome Leather is the disposal of the finished goods after their useful lifetime. It has been discovered that old shoes etc when burnt in council incinerators produce highly toxic Chrome 6 (Is it chrome 6 or 5?), and if sent to land fill sites the shoes will not decompose, where as the Organic Vegetable Tanned leather from Tarnsjo has no such problems or by- products. The leather is so good it can actually be eaten, although it may be a little tough for most peoples likings.
Another great advantage with the Organic leather is the fact that it is non allergenic, so can be used next to the skin, even that of a baby.
For after care we recommend the occasional feed with either pure bees wax or pure cod oil, just to restore some of the natural oils that can dry out in today's harsh atmosphere, just as your own skin will do
